What we collect. And what we don't.
Last updated · May 6, 2026
Statehouse is operated as an independent product. This page describes the data we collect to operate the service, who processes it on our behalf, and how you can delete it.
Information we collect
Account data. When you sign up, we collect your email address. Authentication is handled via magic-link sign-in — we do not store passwords. We may also store optional profile fields you provide, such as preferred industries and email-digest preferences.
Subscription data. If you subscribe, we store a Stripe customer identifier, your subscription status, and the period it covers. We do not store your card number or full payment details — Stripe handles payment information directly.
Usage data. We store a list of opportunities you save to your watchlist and a record of which weekly digests we have sent you (delivery status, open timestamps when available). We use Vercel Analytics for privacy-friendly aggregate page analytics; this does not use third-party cookies and does not track you across sites.
Session cookies. We set first-party cookies to keep you signed in. These expire when you sign out or after a period of inactivity.
How we use your data
We use your email and subscription state to deliver the service — sending the weekly digest, granting access to subscriber-only pages, billing you, and handling support requests. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to train AI models.
Subprocessors
We rely on a small set of vendors to operate Statehouse. Each receives only the data needed for its function:
- Supabase — hosts our Postgres database and handles authentication.
- Vercel — hosts the web application and provides aggregate analytics.
- Stripe — processes payments and manages subscriptions.
- Resend — sends the weekly digest and transactional emails.
- OpenAI — runs the AI analysis pipeline against public legislative text. Your account data is not sent to OpenAI.
We also fetch public legislative data from LegiScan and the U.S. Congress.gov API. These sources do not receive any information about you.
Email and unsubscribe
Subscribers receive the weekly digest by default. You can disable digest delivery on your settings page or by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any digest email. Disabling the digest does not cancel your subscription; manage that from the Stripe billing portal accessible on your settings page.
Data retention and deletion
Your account and watchlist data are retained while your account exists. To delete your account and associated data, email us from the address on file. Subscription records retained for accounting purposes follow the retention rules of our payment processor.
Children's privacy
Statehouse is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email to active subscribers. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
